Continuing its work as presented at the recent National Conference for RRR Education, the VECTOR group of schools in Mid West WA have come together in September for a youth forum at Geraldton Universities Centre.

The 21 students from seven Secondary schools spanning Kalbarri to Mount Magnet and Jurien Bay collaborated on the initiatives that would better support them through their senior years of schooling to reach their goals.

Key among those initiatives are to expand opportunities for all students throughout the vast Mid West region (the size of Victoria) to be able to attend career expos and bespoke regional events as well as to receive more support as they transition from Year 10 into Year 11 and 12.

The group presented to school Principals, calling for them to collaborate on joint timetables and staffing that would allow students to remotely attend classes together and expand their supported course options. This would meet the original intention behind the VECTOR name – Virtual Education Connection To Overcome Remoteness.

Year 10 students from the 15 VECTOR schools will come together before the end of the year at GUC to prepare for senior schooling and will attend the Geraldton Regional Career Expo in May 2027.  For the first time in 2027, Year 12 students from these schools can also join the Curtin UniReady in Schools program that has been running at GUC for Champion Bay and Geraldton Senior High Schools since 2023.
