AREA: Australian Rural Education Awards

Since 1994, Australian Rural Education Awards (AREAs) have been awarded annually to an individual, institution, organisation or industry to recognise excellence in rural education in Australia.

2024 AREAs were announced at the
National Conference for Regional, Rural & Remote Education in Coffs Harbour August 2024.

First Nations  Education Award 
Recognising excellence in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander RRR education
2024 AREA: Murwillumbah Connected Learning Community
Highly Commended: Wula Garray Choir Orange Conservatorium of Music

Regional, Remote, Rural Schools Partnership Award 
Demonstrating a successful partnership for school students outcomes in a RRR community of praxis
2024 AREA: “Explore” Career & Industry Immersion – UniHub Spencer Gulf
Highly Commended: Story Writing in Remote Locations – Victoria University

Community Centric Award 
Recognition of a person/project/organisation who have placed a RRR community at its centre
2024 AREA: CareerQuip – Taree Universities Campus

Research Excellence Award  
Recognising significant contribution to the Australian RRR education discourse
2024 AREA: Teachers and Teaching Research Centre – University of Newcastle

Innovative programs and practises in RRR education|
